CAPE HORN AND GLACIERS

This schedule is only indicative: weather conditions may modify mooring or track choices.


Day 1: Reception to the Ushuaia airport and transfer to the boat. Installation on board.

Day 2: Crossing of the Beagle channel to reach Puerto Williams. This naval Chilean base delivers the entry to Chili and the Fuegian channels. Distance 25 NM.

Day 3: cast off Puerto William, sailing east toward the end of the Beagle Canal, then south in Paso Picton, (between Navarino island and Picton island). Calling at Puerto Toro or in another anchorage on Lennox Island. Distance 23 or 41 NM.

Day 4: leaving the anchorage, we will sail south to cross Nassau Bay and reach the south of Wollaston Island, mooring at Caleta Martial (Herschel island) or Puerto Maxwell (Hermitte island). Distance: 35 or 53 miles.

Day 5: we will sail through the Franklin Canal between Wollaston Island and Herschel Island to reach Horn Island. If weather condition allows it, we will moor under the Chilean navy's camp at the South East of the island. Landing on the island and visit to the lighthouse and its guards. We will sail 12 miles back to the well sheltered mooring of Caleta Martial.

Day 6: Crossing of Nassau Bay and back to Puerto Toro or Caleta Banner (north coast of Picton island). Distance: 53 or 55 miles.

Day 7: sailing to Puerto Williams.

Day 8: leaving Puerto Williams towards the Darwin range; we will spend the night in Puerto Navarino or another anchorage allowed by the Chilean authorities.

Day 9 to 11: casting off toward the glaciers of the North West arm of the Beagle channel. Visit of the seno Pia.

Day 12: we follow the seno Garibaldi up to the far end to appreciate the glaciers, and back towards the entrance of the fjord and East to find a good mooring at Caleta Olla.

Day 13 and 14: back to Puerto Williams and Ushuaia for entry formalities in Argentina.
